Ramona Williams Carr has been named Director of Community Services and Special Programs for the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (VR). During her 21 years of service to the state of South Carolina and its citizens she has made countless contributions. After serving as Interim Director for the SC Department of Education’s Office of Adult and Community Education, she came to VR as the liaison for the Co-Occurring State Incentive Grant in 2007.

At VR she spearheaded several important initiatives that have resulted in improved services for individuals with disabilities. Most recently, as issues of privacy and risks in technology have increased, Carr, serving as VR’s first Privacy Coordinator, has been instrumental in making sure the agency’s data remains secure.

“Ms. Ramona Williams Carr is a vital member of my executive team and an asset to this organization,” said Felicia Johnson, VR Commissioner. “Her dedication and insight is beyond reproach and the organization has truly benefited from her hard work and expertise. I look forward to seeing the changes she will make to enhance our operation in her role as the Director of Community Services and Special Programs.”

Carr is also active in her community, serving on several boards, including the Brookland Baptist Church Federal Credit Union. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from North Carolina Central University, and a master of vriminal justice from the University of South Carolina.
