Suspicious activity leads to multiple arrests

Deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to make arrests related to drug activity in the county.

On July 3, deputies executed a search warrant at 536 Harmony Church Road, Clinton, following an investigation of illegal drug activity, including the sell of heroin, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and firearms.

Six individuals, including the residents of the home, were subsequently arrested and charge with myriad drug charges related to the discovery of a laundry list of illegal drugs and firearms.

Subsequent to the search officers located trafficking amount of heroin, 119 grams of crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana wax, pills, and several weapons including a Glock semi-automatic handguns and 15 assault rifles.

Kari Lynn Butler, 29, of the Harmony Road address, was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for the sell of a controlled substance, five counts of possession of a firearm by felon, two counts cruelty to animals and dog vaccination violation.

At the time of her arrest, Butler was found to be in possession of 119 grams of methamphetamine, 4.8 grams of heroin and 4.7 grams of crack cocaine.

She was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under at $150,000 secured bond.

Another resident of the home, Christian Wayne Butler, 30, was charged with one felony county of maintaining a dwelling for the sell of a controlled substance and placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.

James Carnell Brinson Jr., 28, of 974 Mathis Road, Clinton, was also arrested and charged with trafficking heroin by possession, trafficking methamphetamine by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and seven felony counts of possession a firearm by felon.

He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.

Andrew Alexander Lake, 20, of 203 Green Tree Lane, Clinton, was charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by felon. He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.

Brittany Nicole Howard, 29, of 212 Lonnie Parker Lane, Clinton, was charged with possession of cocaine. Deputies seized 3.5 grams of cocaine when they made her arrest. She was placed under a $2,000 bond.

Gabriel Shatel Chestnutt, 23, of 11270 Garland Hwy., Clinton, was charged with possession of cocaine. Deputies seized 2 grams of cocaine at the time of his arrest. He was placed under a $2,000 bond.

Myron Omar Williams was arrested on Harmony Church Road near the target residence for an outstanding warrant and drug charges.

According to reports, most offenders were convicted felons with prior drug arrests.

Lt. Marcus Smith with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said the local law enforcement agency will continue its efforts to remove drugs from the streets of Sampson County

“This should send a clear message to dealers that we will not let up on removing drugs from the street,” Smith said. “We follow up on every lead and we have a clear open line of communication with the citizens of the county. We continue to encourage citizens who see suspicious activity to reach out to us and share that information with us.”
