A woman has been charged in a break-in to Glam-O-Rama Cleaners earlier this month, even as police get closer to bringing charges in a separate break-in case at Little Caesars.

Paula Janet Bishop Powell, 46, of 229 Brantwood Court, Roseboro, was arrested by Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities at her Roseboro home on Wednesday in connection with the Juy 14 break-in at the Clinton cleaning business, located at 303 Northeast Blvd. in Clinton.

Powell was charged on warrants issued by the Clinton Police Department with breaking and entering, larceny and damage to property. Later Wednesday, according to police reports, the larceny charge was revised to a felony count of larceny after breaking and entering. She was additionally charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, because she allegedly had a juvenile with her during the criminal act.

Glam-O-Rama was found broken into Saturday, July 14. Individuals shattered a rear glass door to the business and damaged an interior office door, inflicting $750 in estimated damage, and ultimately stole an undisclosed sum of money.

Clinton Police Chief Donald Edwards said the investigation identified Powell as one of the persons involved in the incident. Authorities declined to release information about the juvenile subject. The juvenile’s age was not immediately known

Powell was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under $7,500 secured bond and given a court date of July 27.

“I do not expect any additional charges from this case at this time,” Edwards stated.

Last week, Edwards said the Glam-O-Rama and Little Caesars were not believed to be connected, and said video surveillance was aiding investigators in getting closer to a break in those cases.

“Based on the video and information from Glam-O-Rama staff, investigators have identified key persons of interest,” Edwards said late last week. “Likewise, with Little Caesars, video has helped investigators identify a suspect.”

In the Little Caesars case, Clinton Police investigators have identified a suspect and issued warrants on him.

Isaiah Jeremiah Fennel-Best, 18, of Herring Road, Rose Hill, is wanted on felony offenses in the incident, reported July 16.

In that break-in, a black male entered the business and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe. That break-in was reported shortly after the business, located at 1275 Sunset Ave., opened at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16.

“While he has not been arrested at this time, he is facing charges of breaking and entering, larceny and safe-cracking,” said Edwards of the 18-year-old suspect. “Mr. Fennel-Best was the boyfriend of an employee and used this as a means to gain access to the business. Based upon the information we have at this time, we do not believe she was present during the incident.”

That investigation is still ongoing.

There was no damage to the exterior door nor the safe. Initial reports stated that the suspect gained access with a key and the safe was opened by way of the keypad. An undisclosed sum of money was taken.
