Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church’s Summer Concert Series will host Fletcher Stubbs, saxophonist, and Leah Stubbs, pianist for their third summer concert.

The first two concerts, according to event organizers, have proven successful and no doubt the music of the Stubbs’ will bring nothing less than what has become expected.

Fletcher, a veteran teacher in the North Carolina public schools, currently heads the band program at a private school in Richlands and is on the adjunct faculty of Campbell University. He studied saxophone at East Carolina University (bachelors and masters) with renowned saxophonists Brad Foley and James Houlik. He has performed concerts and at worship services throughout the Carolinas and Virginia. His performances include classical music, jazz, religious selections, and even rock and roll.

Leah, also a graduate of ECU, taught chorus and drama in the school system and served as minister of music at First Baptist Church, Richlands for over 37 years. In the school system she has directed over 27 musicals and has seen many of her students, both from school and from her private studio, go on to become musicians in schools and churches around the nation. She currently teaches music, with Fletcher, at Liberty Christian Academy in Richlands.

The third concert of the series will be Aug. 12 at 4 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public, although donations will be accepted.
