Clinton Police are investigating the murder of a 56-year-old Clinton man found shot to death in his West Morrisey Boulevard yard Wednesday evening, and calling on the public for any assistance they can provide in apprehending possible suspects in the homicide.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Clinton Police Department responded to a residence located at 400 West Morrisey Blvd., where they found an unresponsive male subject in the yard. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the victim of a gunshot wound.

The subject was identified as Benjamin Cunningham, who lived at that address. Police investigators and agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are now conducting inquiries into the homicide and are currently trying to locate a burgundy vehicle that seen at the residence at the time the victim was shot.
