Harrells Christian Academy once again invites southeastern North Carolina to kick off the holiday season with a spectacular Christmas market and arts celebration in the school’s Foundation Center, where a wide variety of vendors will offer gifts to suit every taste and budget, local artists and authors will sign and discuss their work, and Harrells student and faculty artwork will be sold.

Doors are open to the general public on Friday, Nov. 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is charged. For an additional cost, children of all ages can meet a special guest from the North Pole at a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. A limited number of tickets will be available for a special preview party on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket holders for this event will receive a special gift, a delightful lunch, and first choice of this year’s juried vendors.

Candy Cane Lane revives a longtime Harrells tradition. Many will remember the old holiday bazaar at HCA, which offered handmade Christmas decorations and baked goods created exclusively by parents, students, and teachers. Attendees will still find these “made with love” items at Candy Cane Lane, but they will also find items from Monkees of Wilmington, High Cotton, Ashley Nicole Designs, Art of Hope, Allcare, Whimsical Florist, and many more. Those who attend the preview party on Friday morning will get a first look at these vendors, as well as a commemorative gift bag filled with extra goodies.

Parent and PTA President Eva Thornton heads the team of volunteers who are transforming the school’s Foundation Center for this two-day event.

“Our goals with Candy Cane Lane are to create an indispensable community tradition and to raise funds for the Harrells Christian Academy Annual Fund which sustains our rigorous curriculum, outstanding teachers, and extraordinary faith-based experience,” Thornton said.

Meet The Artist is a special feature of Candy Cane Lane that has been expanded this year. Christian author Judith Kunst will sign copies of her books The Burning Word and Dancing With Orion; painter Jerry Carter will offer original artwork for sale, and both will answer questions and discuss their work. At this year’s Candy Cane Lane, there will be something for everyone!

Tickets may be purchased at HCA or by calling to reserve tickets at the door. For more information, call 910-532-4575.

The annual Candy Cane Lane at Harrells Christian Academy will be held next weekend and open for the public Friday at 2 p.m.
