2nd annual wellness event set for Saturday in Clinton
Parents, guardians and especially youth, have cause to be excited this coming weekend as the YMCA is prepping to bring back Healthy Kids Day for its 2nd annual edition.
Sampson County YMCA is hosting the second annual Healthy Kids Day this Saturday April 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families and a healthy start to the summer season.
“We are excited to see our community gather once again for Healthy Kids Day,” Sampson County YMCA’s Youth Services and Athletics Program Director Alyssa Fox said. “This event gives our youth and their families an opportunity to meet staff, tour the facility, and engage in exciting activities. Free and open to the public, this annual event features fun-filled activities to celebrate kids being kids.”
Healthy Kids Day is a one-day festival that will be held at Sampson County YMCA, 417 E. Johnson St. in Clinton. The free community event will offer families the opportunity to participate in active play and educational opportunities designed to improve health and wellness.
“As part of the Y’s and City’s commitment to strengthening the community by addressing critical gaps in health and education, Healthy Kids Day will encourage kids and parents to commit to keeping the body and mind active now and throughout the year,” a statement from the YMCA said.
“Healthy Kids Day’s mission is to turn fun and play into lifelong memories, and the event will feature sports stations, face painting, community booths, and free giveaways and prizes,” YMCA stated.
YMCA also highlighted businesses as interested parties have sponsorship opportunities, and or, can host a booth at Healthy Kids Day by completing a form and registering online.
