East Carolina University’s Tatiana Baier is the first female graduate to be selected into Space Force, according to her family.
A relatively new branch of the Armed Forces, the Space Force is the smallest of the Armed Forces. Its mission is to secure our nation’s interest in space and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping space forces, Baier majored in criminal justice and graduated from ECU on May 3. She was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant on May 4.
Baier is the daughter of Benita Newkirk and Micheal Baier and granddaughter of proud grandparents, Lee, and Lynda Newkirk. She is also the great granddaughter of Ethel Mae Newkirk. Growing up, Baier wanted to become a veterinarian, protecting, and caring for animals. Though she still loves and protects animals, she has accomplished something much greater — she is protecting and caring for the nation.
