The driver involved in the Tuesday afternoon ag spill in Roseboro has been identified, along with the company which apparently owns the truck he was driving.
That news came via a one-side press release issued by Sampson County government officials just after 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
In that release, it noted that Nickey Hall of Rowland was cited for failure to secure a load by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of North East Street and East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Sampson Emergency Services personnel along with Roseboro firefighters responded to the scene, finding a spill of animal byproduct, the second such scene in the western Sampson town since Friday.
The truck, the release noted, was operated under the name of GTN Logistics. Emergency staff located the truck at the Sampson County landfill.
The press release also stated that “during the investigation, it was determined that the animal by-product spilled out of the rear of the trailer” and that Hall was likely not aware of the spill at the time it occurred.
The spill was cleaned up by emergency services and others involved.
