A 20-year-old Wallace man is being held without bond tonight, charged with shooting three individuals at the Eastover Terrace Apartments in Clinton Monday afternoon.

Ricardo Ramsey was arrested around 1 p.m. today, after Clinton Police and members of the Sampson County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team surrounded a 614 Eastover Terrace residence, executing a search warrant and taking him into custody without incident.

He was charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, six counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Clinton Police Chief Adrian Mathews said investigators interviewed the suspect into the evening Tuesday, and a review by an assistant district attorney with the 5th Prosecutorial District was made before charging Ramsey.

Also taken into custody Tuesday was 19-year-old Kyrian Davis of Clinton, who was at the residence when officers executed the search warrant. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and is also being held in the Sampson County Detention Center without bond.

Mathews declined comment on what, if any, ties Davis had to the Monday shooting.

Ramsey is charged in connection with opening fire and injuring Desteen Howard, 28, of Clinton, Isaiah Cunningham, 27, of Clinton and Brandon Bell, 37, of Goldsboro just after lunch Monday.

All three, Mathews said, were listed in stable condition today, one day after two of them were airlifted to area hospitals for treatment.

At least one weapon was recovered during the investigation, but Mathews would not say what type of weapon was taken into evidence.

An investigation into the shooting is continuing.

“The Clinton Police Department extends its appreciation to Sheriff Jimmy Thornton, District Attorney Ernie Lee, and the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office SERT Team for their invaluable assistance during this investigation,” Mathews stressed in talking about the investigation.

The police chief urged anyone with information about this incident to contact the Clinton Police Department at 910-592-3105. They may also provide anonymous information through the PD tip service by texting 847411, and beginning the message with ‘tipcpd.’
