A 26-year-old man from Newton Grove was killed in a utility vehicle accident on Tuesday evening.
NC Highway Patrol Sgt. Eric Mellott confirmed that at about 6:26 p.m., Trooper W.E. Johnson was dispatched to a single vehicle fatal wreck involving a side-by-side utility task vehicle, or UTV.
The vehicle, a 2025 Zhejiang CF Moto side by side operated by Zachry B Woodcock, of 1210 Langston Road, Newton Grove, was traveling north on Old US 421 (SR 1617) when the rear driver’s side tire left the vehicle.
The vehicle skidded, ran off the road to the right and rolled over, ejecting both the driver and passenger, Mark West, 55, of 193 HW Jernigan Lane, Dunn.
Woodcock died on the scene. West was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
