Chamber celebrates business accomplishments

By Kaitlin Norris - Contributing columnist

Tuesday night, June 7, the Chamber had the honor of working with the North Carolina Department of Labor to congratulate multiple businesses in Sampson County for their health and safety practices of the previous year. Our guest speaker was the Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry.

The N.C. Department of Labor’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records. The program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace. In operation since 1946, the program now extends to more than 5,000 firms, and about 3,000 awards are presented annually. Two types of awards are administered through the program: Annual Safety Awards and Million-Hour Awards.

What a wonderful night it was. The Chamber values the county’s workforce and Tuesday night it was evident that our local businesses and industries make the health and safety of their employees a priority. We are always pleased to join with the Department of Labor in congratulating our local businesses on their accomplishments and well deserved awards.

Coming up this month of June, we would love for everyone to join us for a ribbon cutting on June 23 at Quality Outdoor Products at 131 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Clinton. Let’s celebrate this new business the right way and join them in their special ribbon cutting starting at 11 a.m. More details to come.

June 23 is a popular date for us this month. Come join the fun for our June Business After Hours at Evo Aktiv. This new business in Newton Grove offers something unique and brings something special to Sampson County. Farmers, you will not want to miss this one. Come on out between the hours of 5:30-7 p.m. to 210 Main Street and see what all the buzz is about.

If you have any questions about becoming a member of the Chamber then I encourage you to come out to one of our events. Contact us with any questions at 910-592-6177, or email us at
