A Clinton man is facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop last week, according to Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities.

Ernest Eugene Ramsey Jr., 39, of 101 Pickle Shed Lane, Clinton, has been charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle for the storage of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.

The Sheriff’s Special Investigation Division conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Ford Mustang for a traffic violation on Hobbton Highway. That stop was made at 8:36 p.m. March 22, according to reports released Wednesday by sheriff’s officials.

During the stop, a K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics and the vehicle was searched, yielding 70.2 grams of crystal meth inside the vehicle.

As a result, Ramsey was taken into custody. He was charged and placed under $30,000 bond.
