Many of you who know me are aware that I am a big supporter of our public school system. Even with the many challenges our schools face today, they are the cornerstone around which a community is built. They do a great job providing each child a basis to build a future on.

The 2015-2016 school year is well underway, but I want to take the opportunity to celebrate our school system’s successes during the 2014-2015 school year. The staff, faculty and administration from Dr. Blount down to each employee, should be proud that the academic program is showing signs of strength and much improvement. The team the superintendent has assembled, as well as the veteran teachers, are clearly doing something very well. I congratulate them for their commitment to the children of our community.

Our school leaders are making hard choices and taking some new paths in classroom instruction; I applaud their efforts and encourage more of the same. I hope this community will join me in support of the continued success and strengthening of our public schools.

I want to also congratulate our school board on their selection of the special people they have chosen to provide leadership to the Clinton City Schools System.
