Jesus told us, “I have come to give you life and life more abundantly. You cannot have an abundant life without the Bread of Life.
The Bread of Life is not physical bread that we eat everyday with our meals. The Bread of Life is not the money we need to purchase the things we need to survive and live a good life. The Bread of Life is not the acquisition of a good education in order to get a good job to make the money that we need.
The Bread of Life is the number one thing that God wants to make us hungry for. The Bread of Life is the number one thing that God wants us to seek every single day of our lives. The Bread of Life is the number one thing that God wants to convince us that we cannot live without.
In the Book of Deuteronomy, God reminds the Jews how He led and took care of them for 40 years in the wilderness. God told them He purposely allowed them to wander in the wilderness to humble them, to test them and to find out what was in their hearts so that they will come to the conclusion man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
What God did with the Jews, He did the same thing to his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Like the Jews, God caused Jesus to wander in the wilderness, not for 40 years but for 40 days, without food. God used the devil to test Jesus so Jesus would know also that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew chapter 4 tells us about the three temptations of Jesus. The devil came to Jesus and said, “If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Jesus, had the power to do so, but instead, Jesus told the devil, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
What is the Bread of Life?
In John 6:32-33 Jesus said, “Verily verily, I say unto you,Moses gave you not that bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God, is He which cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world.” Then Jesus makes a bold and profound statement in John 6:35, Jesus simply said, “I am the Bread of Life.” The Bread of Life gives us a spiritual life and eternal life. .
Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to have a spiritual life by making the way for us to have an intimate relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. A spiritual life leads us to the gift of Eternal Life.
The practical question becomes, how can I take this bread everyday? This is an easy question to answer. You can take the Bread of Life everyday by spending time with God everyday. You can do so by talking to Him everyday, by reading His word everyday and by meditating on His word everyday.
Hebrew 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
God’s word is living, it is not old or archaic, it is alive. God’s Word is not inept or inactive. It is powerful. God’s word reaches into the inner secrets of man’s mind to discern your thoughts, motives and intentions. God’s word will show you who you are and where you need to change and repent.
Spend time everyday taking in the Bread of Life. I promise your life will be more abundant.
