The Hobbton Wildcats dominated West Columbus on Sept. 23, sweeping the vikings 9-0 in a home soccer match.

In the first half, the Wildcats built up a 3-0 lead. They picked up six more points in the second half. Scoring for the Wildcats, Ricardo Diaz had three goals, Alberto Rendon and Adrian Molina had two each. Efer Ramos and Marcos Escobar had one goal each.

Wildcat coach Christian Vega commented, “The match was pretty one-sided, ending with a solid 9-0 victory for us. Given the scoreline, it was a good opportunity to give some of our players more game time, which is always valuable for team development. I’m always looking to improve the team’s overall performance. There’s a few things that we need to improve on as a team but we will eventually get there so we will take the win and move on for East Columbus.”

The Wildcats traveled to East Columbus Wednesday, Sept. 24 and scored an away win on the pitch, defeating the Gators 10-2.

This moves Hobbton’s record to 4-0-1 and keeps them sitting at No. 1 in the Carolina 1A/2A conference.

They were scheduled to face-off against cross-county rival Union Monday afternoon, if weather allowed. See those game results in Wednesday’s Sampson Independent.
