The Hobbton Wildcats saw their postseason run come to an end Friday night on the road, falling 47-12 to the Tarboro Vikings in the third round of the NCHSAA 2A football playoffs.
Tarboro set the tone early, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and continuing to build on it with a 19-point second period to take full control by halftime. Hobbton found the end zone once in the second quarter and again in the third, but the early deficit proved too steep to overcome against one of eastern North Carolina’s most consistent playoff contenders.
The Wildcats played hard out of the break, matching Tarboro’s six points in the third quarter, but the Vikings added eight more in the fourth to seal the win and advance.
