Harrells Christian Academy senior Reid Strickland has committed to continue his baseball career at Southeastern Community College, where he will join the Rams for the 2026-27 season.
Strickland, a Clinton native, has been a four-year contributor to the Harrells Christian Academy varsity baseball program, playing first base and serving as a pitcher for the Crusaders. He has also competed for the Clinton Colts for the past four years.
“Playing for these teams with a good group of guys who all want the same thing and good coaches who push me to do my best has helped me prepare for the next level,” Strickland explained. “It’s always been my dream to play baseball at the next level, and I am very excited to continue my baseball journey at Southeastern while majoring in electrical engineering.”
During his high school baseball career, Strickland earned All-Conference and MVP recognition. He has also been a multi-sport athlete at Harrells Christian Academy, serving as quarterback for the varsity football team and accounting for 13 touchdowns during the 2025 season.
Harrells Christian Academy head baseball coach Josh Rackley described Strickland as a key presence on the mound.
“Reid is a talented pitcher who brings a strong arm and competitive presence to the mound,” Rackley noted. “He has continued to develop his game throughout his high school career and has shown the ability to perform at the varsity level. His experience and skill set make him an important part of our pitching staff.”
Assistant coach Terry Smith echoed that assessment.
“Reid is a player who truly loves competition,” Smith added. “He wants the ball in his hands and has a great deal of confidence in what he can contribute to his team.”
With the upcoming season approaching, the Crusaders’ coaching staff expects Strickland to play an important role as he prepares for the next level.
“This season will be an important step in his progression as he prepares for the next level,” Rackley remarked. “I’m looking forward to Reid’s ability to provide quality innings and compete against opposing lineups this season. His stuff gives us a chance every time he takes the mound, and his role will be an important one for our team as we navigate a challenging schedule.”
Smith also pointed to leadership and team chemistry as strengths heading into the season.
“Looking ahead to this season, I believe we will have a lot of success with the players we have returning,” Smith said. “Our seniors will do a great job leading the team, and Reid will be a big part of that. Reid and his teammates have played together for many years, and that chemistry will be a major strength for our team.”
Smith said Strickland’s decision to attend Southeastern Community College positions him well for continued development.
“I believe Reid’s decision to commit to Southeastern was a great choice for him,” Smith stated. “He will be playing for Coach Coy Barnett, who I believe will help Reid continue to grow and be successful at the next level.”
Strickland made his commitment surrounded by family, friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers. During the signing ceremony, he expressed appreciation for those who have supported him throughout his career.
“I want to thank God, my family, friends, teammates, and coaches,” Strickland concluded.
