Union Middle traveled to host Hobbton on Thursday to meet in soccer action. The home Wildcats would jump on the Spartans early to race to an 8-0 win.

After coming off a 4-2 win against Midway last week, where the Wildcats started slowly, this time was different.

“We stressed to them that you cannot wait for the whistle to get focused to play. It starts in warmups,” said Hobbton’s Coach Damon Burnett. “We knew we would have to work for every goal and we did. Union had to key players out and we tried to take advantage of that. The score does not reflect the intensity of the game.”

Hobbton would score eight minutes into the game when Alberto Caamano shot from 18 yards out unassisted. Four minutes later, Erick Soza would score off a Caamano assist and Soza would add another on a breakaway to extend the lead to three.

Defender Melvin Cinto made it 4-0 when he scored from the left-hand side six minutes later. Soza got the hat trick when Claudio Montes passed to him from the right-hand side. Jose Rendon would end the scoring in the first half, scoring from 15 yards out.

The Hobbton team came out in the second half concentrating on possession and working the ball around the field. Halfway through the second half, Milton Cinto scored off an assist from Jared Sanchez. Edwin Perez would finish the scoring with two minutes left.

The Wildcats are busy next week, traveling to Roseboro on Monday, Union on Tuesday and wrapping up at home against Sampson on Thursday.
