The Hobbton Wildcats soccer team played their second overtime in two days Tuesday, getting a 2-1 senior night win over James Kenan, which was first place in the conference.

With Tuesday’s win, the Wildcats and the Tigers are now tied for first place, both at 7-2 in the conference. Hobbton has two games left — at Neuse Charter Wednesday and at Lakewood next week.

“It was a very hard fought game,” said Hobbton coach Jonathan Jacobs. “I thought we controlled the game, we had more chances. We pushed a lot down their throats. They had three shots to our 10 at the goal. We played very strong in the back even though one of our players was injured. We had people step up and play positions they hadn’t played all year.”

Jair Sanchez scored the winning goal in overtime. Christian Vega also scored. Cesar Castillo was credited with assists on both goals.
