After trailing for two-and-a-half quarters, Sampson Middle School used a tenacious defense and sharp shooting to rally to a 40-35 win.

Roseboro-Salemburg took an early 9-2 lead and a 15-12 lead at the half. Sampson Middle outscored Roseboro-Salemburg to put them in the lead, 28-16. Sampson Middle would continue to pour on the offense, putting 12 points on the board from there on out. Roseboro-Salemburg scored 19 in an attempt to mount their own rally, but came up short.

Blake Smith led Sampson Middle with 10 points, Keon Coleman has nine, and Zion Simpson added eight.

Sampson Middle’s record climbs to 3-0 on 1-0 in the conference. They will play at home on Thursday. The girls game tips off at 4 p.m. followed by the boys at 5:30 p.m.
