The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released its final men’s and women’s playoff brackets late Sunday afternoon. To no surprise, local teams made the playoffs and First Round action is set to begin on Tuesday night.
On the men’s side, Clinton, Midway, Hobbton, and Lakewood all made the playoffs while on the women’s side, Clinton and Midway advanced further in postseason play.
The Dark Horses finished the regular season with a 24-2 overall record and were the undefeated victors of the Four County Conference. They are currently riding a 22-game winning streak and received the No. 3 overall seed. They will host Southwest Edgecombe in the first round. The Cougars are 9-12 overall and finished in fourth place in the Eastern Plains 2A Conference.
The Raiders finished the regular season 15-11 overall and 8-6 in the Four County Conference, giving them 4th place in the conference. Midway drew the No. 20 overall seed and will travel to play the No. 15 seed, Roanoke Rapids. The Yellow Jackets finished in third place in the Northern Carolina 2A Conference with a 19-7 overall record and a 9-5 conference record.
The Wildcats finished their season with a 13-13 overall record and a 4th place finish in the Carolina 1A Conference. They drew the No. 24 overall seed and will travel to Williamston to take on the No. 9 seed, Riverside. The Knights hold an overall record of 20-3 and finished second in the Two Rivers 1A Conference with an 8-2 record.
The Leopards enter the playoffs as the No. 22 overall seed. They finished the season 12-9 and took third place in the Carolina 1A Conference with a record of 10-4. They will travel to Hertford to take on No. 12 seed, Perquimans. The Pirates finished the regular season with an 18-7 record and took second place in the Coastal Ten 1A Conference.
The Lady Dark Horses finished the season 24-2 overall and were the victors of the Four County Conference with a 12-0 record. Currently riding a 17-game win streak, they received the No. 2 overall seed and will host Washington in the first round. The Lady Pam Pack are 14-11 overall and finished in fifth place in the Eastern Plains 2A Conference with a 2-8 record.
The Lady Raiders finished the regular season 12-15 overall and third place in the Four County Conference with an 8-6 record. They received the #30 overall seed and will travel Deep Run to take on South Lenoir. The Lady Blue Devils received the No. 4 seed, posting a 20-5 overall record and winning the Eastern Carolina 2A Conference with a 10-0 record.
