The Clinton Dark Horses soccer team earned another win on Monday over Spring Creek, garnering their fourth shutout win in a row.
The game was rather slow in the first half as Spring Creek continued to hang around. The Horses would go into halftime hanging onto a 1-0 lead, with the Gators still having a shot.
The Dark Horses didn’t allow any kind of comeback this go-around.
Not only did they play just as well in the second half, they improved on their previous half performance. Clinton would go on to score three more unanswered goals which ultimately led to their 4-0 win, keeping the fourth straight team scoreless.
“I thought we moved the ball really well and we did what we needed to do to win,” said coach Brad Spell. “We got to give all our guys some playing time again, which is always good to see. “We still have to work on finishing on some of our opportunities, but we continue to get better.”
Goals for Clinton came from four different Dark Horses. Scorers were Ivan Ponce, who adds another as he is on track to threaten the single-season goal record of 29 goals. Reid Taylor, Ashton Tyndall and Manuel Murrillo also added one apiece.
With the fourth win in a row, Clinton improves to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference. They face the No. 3 team in the state on the road Wednesday, traveling to Wallace-Rose Hill for a conference match.
