Clinton, Midway, East Duplin, Goldsboro and Spring Creek met up at Clinton High School on Tuesday for a cross country meet. The Dark Horses dominated the competition, easily taking first place getting a Perfect Score on Senior Day.

The match started off with the honoring of the seniors, as Dark Horses cross country assistant Rhonda Davis honored not just Clinton seniors but each senior from all teams that were there. After the small ceremony ended and the National Anthem was sung, the match was underway and the Dark Horses commanded the meet with ease.

Clinton easily took first place finishing the day on top with 15 points as no team was close to beating team. East Duplin finished the day in second place behind Clinton, ending the day with 60 points. Spring Creek finished in third, 18 points behind East Duplin with 78 overall; Midway finished fourth with 83 points; and Goldsboro rounded out the day in fifth place with 151 points.

The Horses took the top five spots in the meet as their three best runners Kade Sutton, Jared Parker, and Charles Jordan continue to perform impressively this season. Sutton, Parker and Jordan finished first, second and third for the Horses. Their times were Sutton 17.39; Parker 17.42; and Jordan 17.47. Clinton’s Greg Monk and Eric Wynn finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Monk’s time was 19.11 and Wynn’s was 19.31.

Top runners for the other teams were: East Duplin’s Angel Acosta Garcia, 19.31, good for sixth place; Midway’s Austin Hargrove, 19.41, for seventh; Spring Creek’s Tahj Edwards, 20.03 for eighth; and Goldsboro’s Jyrei Thompson, 20.23, for ninth place.

The Horses will be back in action next Tuesday, traveling for their next meet at East Duplin.
