At a neutral site offered through the Hobbton Classic, Midway’s Lady Raiders got the best of Lakewood’s Lady Leopards, 72-48.

The Lady Leopards were in good form at the beginning of the match starting with a slight lead. They fell behind but then pushed ahead of the Lady Raiders to lead 21-16. While the Leopards pushed hard during the second quarter, holding the lead for much of it, but Midway fought back and took the halftime lead, at 34-28.

The Lady Raiders wouldn’t look back, going on to a 58-37 advantage by the end of the third quarter. Midway only widened the gap en route to the eventual 24-point win.

“We’re getting into our game,” Coach Vonnie McNeil, whose Lakewood squad dropped to 0-8 on the season. “We’re just learning to play together and I think by conference time we’ll be ready and have a good idea of each other’s skills.”

Lakewood will be playing Rosewood Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m.
