The City of Clinton Recreation and Parks basketball regular season came to its conclusion, the Jayhawks taking the regular season championship. Facing off against the Tar Heels, the only team to best them, the Jayhawks got the better of them this time, winning 46-30.
The Clinton Recreation and Parks league is a four-team league that consists of the regular season champion Jayhawks, the runner-up Tar Heels, the Wildcats and the Wolfpack. The competition level was quite high with the average margin for victory all year being just seven points.
A lot was riding on the winner of the regular season championship game as the Jayhawks were siting at 7-1 and the Tar Heels coming into it at 6-2. The only loss the Jayhawks suffered was by two points to the Heels earlier in the season. Had they lost again with both teams going to 7-2, the Heels would’ve walked away regular season champs since they held the advantage in the head to head matchups.
With the regular season done, tournament play is set to begin. The first round of tourney action for the city league was expected to kick off Thursday night.
