Basketball scholarships are being offered to rising sixth, seventh and eighth grade males and females. NCAA rules prohibit scholarships to students who will be in ninth grade next year, eighth graders currently, as they are considered prospects.

Males selected will attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at UNC-Chapel Hill and females selected will attend the Wes Moore Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp at N.C. State University.

South River EMC, as one of North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy cooperatives, has once again partnered with the schools as an opportunity to offer scholarships to students in the community. The Cooperative is able to issue one scholarship to each camp in 2018.

Middle school students are chosen from the South River EMC service area to attend the basketball camps on an all-expense-paid scholarship. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from camp.

Winners of the Touchstone Energy Wes Moore Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp Scholarship will attend the overnight camp in Raleigh, June 10-13, while winners of the Touchstone Energy Roy Williams Basketball Camp Scholarship will attend the overnight camp in Chapel Hill, June 16-20. Should your basketball loving child be one of them?

Wes Moore is head coach of the Wolfpack women’s basketball team, working hard to inspire success in his team. Roy Williams has led the Tarheels to national titles and several Final Fours. Both coaches will use the help of their staff and current players to conduct their camps. Camps will work closely with each camper to develop skills that will benefit the young athletes both on and off the court.

Not only does the program allow NC middle school students to spend time on a college campus, it also gives them the opportunity to receive individual and group instruction from two successful collegiate coaches to enhance their basketball skills.
