Lakewood’s volleyball team notched another win on Tuesday, this time on the road at Spring Creek.

Lakewood swept the Lady Gators, and got off to a nice start by earning the win in the first set by a score of 25-17.

They then obliterated Spring Creek in the second round, 25-12, before closing the match out in the third set, a close one, 25-21.

Lakewood was led by Aleah Parker, with 10 kills and 4 blocks; NyAsia James, who had 9 kills, and 5 blocks; Morgan Bonner, with 5 kills; Alana Jackson, with 14 assists, and an ace, and Anna Heinz, who had 4 kills, 27 digs, and 6 aces.

The LHS JV team also won in the minimum sets. They dropped Spring Creek 25-21 in the first set, and 25-17 in the second to clinch the match.

Lakewood’s head coach, Sheila Davidson was pleased with the way her teams played on Tuesday.

“I am really proud of both teams tonight,” she said. “The JV played very well against a strong Spring Creek JV team. I thought that Krislyn Bullard and Grace Hairr played great.

“Our varsity was solid and we continue to add to our offense. Our serve receive is looking really good, and we are just hoping to continue to play well, and continue to improve.”

Lakewood is now 3-4 on the season, and 1-0 in conference play, as Spring Creek was their conference opener. They are looking to grab another road conference win on Thursday, when they are scheduled to travel to Calypso to take on the Lady Rebels of North Duplin.

The JV game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and the varsity is set to start shortly after.
