The Midway Raiders earned an 11-0 victory at home against Trask in just five innings on Senior Night in Spivey’s Corner on Tuesday evening. It was a strong pitching performance, once again for the Raiders, as Ryan Lee pitched 4 innings, earning the win, allowing no runs on 2 hits and walking none.

Cameron Godwin got an inning of work for the Raiders in the fifth. He allowed a hit, no walks, and no runs, and struck out the side in a very productive inning.

Offensively, Midway was led by Wesley Johnson, who went 1-2 with 4 RBIs. Drake Strickland went 2-2, Trey Wood had a single with 2 RBIs, Tyler Pope had a single and an RBI, Lee helped his cause with an RBI hit, Matthew Core had an RBI infield single for MHS.

The Seniors, Trey Wood, Matthew Barefoot, Kyle Hawley, Tyler Pope, Cameron Godwin, and Ryan Lee were all honored prior to the game with the retiring of their 2014 State Championship Jerseys. Head coach Jason Fussell was very appreciative of what these seniors have done for the Raider baseball program over the past three years.

“These guys have been huge for our program,” said Fussell. “They, along with the previous two classes have really established the idea of taking the program to the next level. This team has a special chance this year if we are able to play like we know we can. They have an opportunity to play in a third consecutive state championship series, which would be quiete an accomplishment,” finished Fussell.

The Raiders remain in first place in the Four County Conference with Clinton closely behind. With two games left, the Raiders control their own destiny. They take on Union at Union on Wednesday and host Wallace-Rose Hill for a make-up game on Thursday.

Midway is now 16-2 and 11-1 in conference play.
