Last week’s picks got back on the plus side of the tracks. A perfect 5-0 record helps ease the sting of two less-than-stellar weeks.
Lakewood travels to North Duplin on Friday night to try to get the winning streak back on track. Lakewood finally got the offense rolling again last week hanging 42 points against Spring Creek. The defense continues to stifle opponents. North Duplin will keep it interesting for a while, but Lakewood will pull away from the Rebels.
Final Score: Lakewood- 28 North Duplin 14
The Raiders will face the Pender Patriots on Friday night in Burgaw. After dropping their first game of the year to East Bladen, Midway looks to rebound against the Patriots. Much like last week against Clinton, Pender will find themselves out-manned on both sides of the ball. Midway will put points on the board early and outlast the Patriots.
Final Score: Midway- 41 Pender-14
Hobbton will host the Spring Creek Gators. Hobbton is suffering, in the middle of a three game losing streak. Don’t expect home field advantage to be enough to beat the Gators. The Wildcats make things interesting, but the Gators take home the close victory.
Final Score: Hobbton- 14 Spring Creek 22
Union will travel to Trask on Friday night to face the Titans. Union’s defense will make scoring tough for the Titans, while the offense should have a great night. The Spartans get back in the win column, knocking off the Titans.
Final Score: Union- 35 Trask- 7
In the Game of the Week, Clinton faces the East Bladen Eagles. East Bladen handed Clinton their only regular season loss last year. The Eagles bring their power football scheme to Clinton and look to slow down the Dark Horses. This one has all of the makings of a slug-fest. In the end, Clinton’s offense has too much speed for the Eagles to handle. The Dark Horses come away with a huge conference win over East Bladen.
Final Score: Clinton- 35 East Bladen-31
