The Lady Spartans hosted the Lady Wildcats in a toss-up game Tuesday. Hobbton gained the win, 63-55, after taking the lead from the Spartans slowly.

The Lady Spartans came out strong in the first quarter. Destiny Robinson was able to get Union on the board and add to it multiple times. They managed to take the lead 9-15.

The Wildcats fought back against the Spartans with Nina Devone putting many points up for Hobbton. The Spartan lead was shortened to 26-30.

By the third quarter, the Lady Wildcats slowly took the lead from the Spartans. Hobbton had the Spartans by only three points, 48-45.

However, the Lady Spartans would be unable to take back the lead from the Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats started to extend their lead until the clock ran out, giving them the victory, 63-55.

Nina Devone led the Lady Wildcats with 37 points. Aneesa Dunn who scored 15 points and also had the most 3- point baskets of the game with 3 followed her up.

Destiny Robinson led the Lady Spartans with 35 points. Faith McKoy scored 9 for Union followed by Justice Johnson and Mia Bronson both with 2.

Union head coach, Bryant Register thought the Wildcats played a good game. “I want to congratulate Coach Henry and his team on the win tonight and I told him that his girls played extremely hard and they deserved the win.”

Register also sees a lot of work to be done within his team. “I’m a little disappointed with our effort tonight. We have got a lot of work to do and not much time so we will practice hard these next two days to be ready for Friday night,” he concluded.

Hobbton’s head coach, Leonard Henry was very proud of his team. “Tonight was a total team effort and the girls never quit. They fought through a lot of adversity and hung in there as a group and it shows the potential that we have,” he said.

The Lady Spartans will travel to face the Lady Leopards on Friday as the Hobbton team will take on the Lady Raiders back at home.
