Clinton’s JV basketball team took on the JV Red Wolves from Cedar Ridge on Tuesday afternoon in the Dark Horse Holiday Classic finals. The Dark Horses overcame some sloppy play to win the tournament crown with a 55-46 win.

Clinton head coach, Dwight Morrisey, commented on his displeasure with his team’s performance, saying “we just didn’t play good tonight, we were sloppy and committed too many turnovers. I am happy to get the win, but it was not pretty.” The Dark Horses managed to take a 26-22 halftime lead and steadily built on their lead in the second half to post the nine point win over the Red Wolves.

Coach Morrisey continued after the game saying, “we have to get better as a team, we have a lot to work on. We have to cut down on our turnovers, mental mistakes and learn how to not lose focus. We will work on these things and get ready for the rest of the conference season.”

Clinton was led by Kahari Williams with 14 points and Malik Killett added 12 points. The win improves the JV Horses to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Dark Horses will return to conference play next Monday when they travel to Midway to face the Raiders.
