The Lady Dark Horses took on the West Bladen Lady Knights in a Friday night home game. The Lady Dark Horses got a nice 27-point win over the Lady Knights, by a score of 61-34.

Clinton immediately took the lead in the first quarter. However, the Lady Knights tried to keep it a close game, only giving the Lady Dark Horses an 8-point lead, 19-11 by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw an increase in the home team’s momentum. Clinton started to widen the gap between them and the Lady Knights. The Lady Dark Horse defense limited the amount of times West Bladen was allowed to go to the net. At the end of the second quarter Clinton had a good lead over the Lady Knights, 37-14.

The third quarter saw little difference from the second. The Lady Dark Horses continued to find the net at a steady pace while keeping West Bladen from narrowing the gap for the lead. Going into the fourth quarter, Clinton led, 50-23.

The Lady Dark Horses finished the fourth quarter out strong, as they continued to knock down shots. By this point the Lady Knights were too far behind for hopes of taking the lead from the Lady Horses, and Clinton took the big victory, 61-34.

Alex Canady led the Lady Dark Horses with a big contribution of 29 points. She was followed up by Brielle Mitchell with 16 points and Kierra Mabry with 5.

Clinton head coach, Chris Owens was very happy with the win and how his team played tonight.

“It was another great win and a conference win on top of that,” said Owens. “We gave them some pressure in the beginning that got us ahead and I thought we shot the ball very well tonight.”

The Clinton Lady Dark Horses will be back in action in a week’s time, as next Friday, they travel to take on the Lady Titans of Trask.
