The Lady Spartans hosted county rivals, the Lady Dark Horses on the soccer field Thursday evening. The Lady Dark Horses got the best Union and cut the game short by a mercy ruling, 9-0, with about 10 minutes left in the second half.

The Lady Dark Horses came out strong in the first half scoring 8 of their 9 goals. The Lady Spartan defense was unable to hold off the Clinton offensive pressure as many balls were shot straight to the back of the net.

Katey Yang led the Dark Horses tonight scoring 3 goals in the first half at the 37:51, 19:49, and 13:03 marks. Yang was followed up by Alaina Capps and Hadley Heath who both had 2 goals. Capps’ goals were scored at 24:04 and 16:33 and Heath’s at 8:37 and 8:17. Ashlyn Williams made the other goal of the first half at the 16:06 mark.

Coming into the second half the Lady Spartans trailed far behind but put up a good fight as they took the field again. They managed to hold off another Lady Dark Horse goal for approximately 30 minutes before Clinton’s Yensy Meza was able to send the ball into the net at the 10:06 mark, securing Clinton’s last goal.

Both teams will have a break from the soccer action for the holiday break. The Lady Dark Horses will be back on the field at Trask Tuesday, April 5th, while the Lady Spartans host East Bladen back at home.
