The Lady Dark Horse soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Monday by hosting Trask in a Four County Conference soccer match. The game, originally scheduled for Tuesday and rescheduled to Monday due to the threat of bad weather, was played under ominous skies. But the rains held off long enough for Clinton to post a 9-0 shutout and celebrate their three seniors.

Clinton got on the scoreboard early when freshmen Ashlyn Williams and Elizabeth Coleman combined to put the Lady Dark Horses in the lead 1-0 at the 3:56 mark. Williams sent the Coleman pass into the nets for all the scoring Clinton would need.

At 7:52 the Lady Dark Horses struck again as Senior Alaina Capps took an Ella Faison pass and sent home the second Clinton goal. Elizabeth Coleman got into the goal scored column when she scored the third Clinton goal at 10:39 assisted by senior Nicole Spell.

Alaina Capps scored her second goal of the night assisted by Reagan Barefoot at 21:36 to give Clinton a commanding 4-0 edge. It took less than two minutes for the Lady Dark Horses to ring the bell again when Ashlyn Williams took a corner kick and dropped it perfectly for Halla Gilpin to head into the Lady Titan goal, making the score 5-0 at the 23:11 mark.

Clinton tacked on the sixth goal at 29:37 when Katey Yang scored off an assist from Alaina Capps. The same two Lady Dark Horses flipped the script at the 33:54 mark when Katey Yang passed to Capps on a break away for to give Capps the hat trick and Clinton a 7-0 lead that they took to the half time break.

After celebrating their three seniors during halftime the Lady Dark Horses came out and quickly took care of business. Katey Yang lifted Clinton to an 8-0 lead at 43:43 off a pass from Reagan Barefoot and Alaina Capps finished off the game at 53:13 scoring her fourth goal of the night off an assist from fellow senior Nicole Spell.

After the game, Clinton head coach Jeff Smith said, “I’m happy for the seniors, they all contributed in a good senior night win. We are continuing to work on parts of our game and try to get prepared for the playoffs.” The win runs the Lady Dark Horse’s record to 17-5 overall and 13-0 in conference play. Clinton will wrap up the regular season on Thursday night when they travel to conference foe Wallace-Rose Hill.
